Fall Guide
Young Entrepreneurs Lab: Get Seen, Marketing and PR
General Interest Program for Ages Gr 7 - 10 in the Glebe, Ottawa
Activity Details
You have an idea. So does everyone else. This course teaches marketing, the skill of getting the right people to notice, want, and trust something you made.
Whether it’s a business, a personal brand, or a project you care about, having a good idea isn’t enough. Someone has to actually hear about it, understand why it matters, and decide to pay attention. That’s marketing, and it’s a skill, not a personality trait.
No prior course needed. Students can walk in with an existing idea, a half-formed one, or nothing yet. We’ll help them find something worth building attention around.
Participants will learn digital marketing fundamentals, copywriting that gets read, how to pitch a story to real media, and word of mouth strategy, both IRL and online. Students will also build the real, working tools behind a campaign: a website, an email sequence, a landing page, using simple AI tools that let anyone build a working site just by describing what they want, no coding required.
By the end of this course, students will have grown awareness and an audience around their idea, and pitched it to real media. Last year’s Young Entrepreneurs Lab was covered by CBC, and the momentum has only continued since. Students in this course will learn the exact skills behind that kind of coverage and apply them to their own ideas.
These skills go far beyond this course. Knowing how to tell your story, advocate for yourself, and get people to pay attention is exactly what it takes to stand out in a job interview, a university application, or even just a classroom presentation. This is a life skill dressed up as a marketing course.
Instructor: Leslie Siu, Clio Award-winning CMO and serial entrepreneur with 22+ years building startups across North America. She has built companies from the ground up and pitched over 120 times in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Denver.
